Last night were the somethingrd annual Motif Music Awards in grand old Providence. I racked up another inexplicable nomination this year (for Best Singer-Songwriter) but was able to keep my losing streak in tact. Mark Cutler was the winner in my category, and congratulations to him.
I apparently do not have my finger on the pulse of what’s going on down in Rhode Island right now, because I’m unfamiliar with most of the winners. I’d like to congratulate Oak Hill Tavern for winning Best Open Mic while pointing out that I think Everyman would have been a worthy winner and, I think, will win in the future if they can keep things going.
Congratulations also to MorganEve Swain, who was named Instrumentalist of the Year. I don’t recall who else was nominated, but I’m certain no one was more deserving than MorganEve.
Also, I know that a few votes were cast for me by people who read this space, so thank you for those. I will never, ever win but I appreciate the time and effort taken on my behalf.
